About: "Till" is a profoundly emotional and cinematic film about the true story of Mamie Till-Mobley’s relentless pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till, who, in 1955, was lynched while visiting his cousins in Mississippi. In Mamie’s poignant journey of grief turned to action, we see the universal power of a mother’s ability to change the world.
Immediately preceding the screening, we will be joined by our artist on exhibit, Janelle Washington, for a closing reception beginning at 6:00 p.m. In 2022, Washington illustrated Choosing Brave, an award-winning picture book biography of the mother of Emmett Till, and how she channeled grief over her son's death into a call to action for the civil rights movement. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
