About: The Special Consensus has been a driving force in bluegrass for over four decades, blending traditional drive and harmonies with contemporary flair to create a sound that’s both timeless and innovative. Founded by banjoist Greg Cahill, a recipient of the IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award and SPBGMA Hall of Greats inductee, the band features the stellar talents of 2023 IBMA Male Vocalist of the Year Greg Blake (guitar), Dan Eubanks (bass), and Brian McCarty (mandolin). Together, these four vocalists and instrumentalists craft music that stays rooted in bluegrass tradition while exploring new creative directions.
With 21 recordings, seven IBMA awards, and two Grammy nominations, their catalog is rich with achievements. Highlights include their Grammy-nominated Rivers and Roads, featuring the IBMA Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year, "Squirrel Hunters," and Chicago Barn Dance, which won the 2020 IBMA Song of the Year. Their latest album, Great Blue North (2023), honors their decades-long connection with Canada.
Known for captivating performances, international tours have taken the band to Australia, Europe, South America, and beyond. They’ve graced the Grand Ole Opry stage and collaborated with symphony orchestras, all while introducing bluegrass to new generations through their Traditional American Music (TAM) Program. Special Consensus continues to record for Compass Records, embodying a dedication to both preserving and evolving bluegrass music.
About Bluegrass & BBQ: At our Bluegrass and BBQ shows, we combine bluegrass music with award-winning barbecue from Jordan Springs Market. In the hour leading up to the show, patrons can purchase and enjoy a delicious plate of barbecue (sold separately).
Date & Time: Saturday, April 5, 2025. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the concert starts at 7:00 PM.
Ticket Price: All tickets are general admission. $25 in advance until 3:00 PM on the day of the event. $30 at the door. Children 12 years and below are free when accompanied by an adult.
