Tony Trischka Concert
April 21 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Navigation

About: Regarded as “the father of modern bluegrass” by the New York Times, the legendary Tony Trischka made the banjo bigger, jazzier, and worldlier! Trischka liberated the banjo; from bluegrass and country to roots in Africa and the heights of jazz, he has opened the instrument to a whole new realm.
Embracing all manner of possibilities while keeping one foot firmly planted in traditional bluegrass, Trischka has garnered a reputation as one of the most influential figures in roots music. Through his tireless efforts as an educator and collaborations with his friend and fellow banjoist Steve Martin, he’s helped to elevate and transform the instrument’s profile within American culture. Setting new standards for genre-bending virtuosity, Trischka’s many collaborators look on him as an invaluable pioneer who absorbed the slings and arrows of roots traditionalists and proved that acoustic music could accommodate imagination and individualism.
