The Critton Hollow String Band
March 10 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Navigation

About: The Critton Hollow String Band has been performing traditional American music since 1975, when they first discovered old-time music on a trip to the Galax Old Time Fiddler’s Convention. Combining a fiddle, hammer dulcimer, banjo, and guitar, the band tends a stable of songs from the first settlements of Appalachia to the best of contemporary American folk music. Their songs conjure a range of emotions from laughter to tears; their ballads tell tales of bad men and disappointed lovers; and their instrumentals inspire audiences to dance or even just sit back and listen. Consisting of Joe Herrmann, Sam Herrmann, and Joe Fallon, the original trio combines precise instrumentation, melodic interplay, and three part harmony to create a warm and engaging sound.
