Serenades From Vienna
October 5, 2019 @ 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

The Rose Hill Chamber Orchestra returns for their first performance at the Barns since their overwhelmingly successful debut concert last April. Led by Music Director Jon Goldberg, they will regale you with an evening of wonderful “Serenades From Vienna”. Opening with the tuneful and expansive early Serenade, Op.7 by Richard Strauss, the program then switches gears to one of the most seductive serenades ever written, Deh Vieni all Finestra from Mozart’s Don Giovanni. The first half then concludes with Mozart’s dramatic Serenade in C minor, for wind octet. The second half is given over to one of the most charming and beautiful works written by Johannes Brahms, his Serenade in A Major. No less a musician than Clara Schumann called the third movement Adagio the most beautiful and deeply felt movement he ever wrote. Brahms omitted the violins for this work allowing the violas, cellos and basses to cast a dark, nostalgic glow over the orchestration. This is a work you will truly not want to miss.
