Artist statement:
Born in Washington DC, I grew up in the Virginia countryside. Steeped in beauty, this is where my visionary life began. My education was gathered from museums around the world. I am a folklorist of nature’s mythology. Each painting is a ballad or sometimes a puzzle or riddle from the cosmos. From this I paint.
Now nestled in Appalachia, I work to chronicle the sagas unfolding around me. From my humming bees to the spring bulls frolicking in the fields, I paint.
This show will be an exploration of the natural world that is happening all around us.
Opening Reception:
The opening reception for the Melissa Foster exhibit will be held at 6 PM on October 1, prior to a performance by the Bobby Thompson Acoustic Trio at 7 PM. The opening reception is free. Those who choose to stay for the Bobby Thompson concert will need to purchase a ticket.
