Painting Spring with Nancy Polo

We are all dumbstruck by the pageantry of Spring. Everyone is posting gorgeous pictures of flowers, green grass and blue skies. Take Nancy Polo’s class this Thursday on how to translate your snapshots into watercolor.

Materials:
• Basic set of watercolors in pans or a palette with watercolors from a tube
• Three soft watercolor brushes (1 to 2 inch flat, 1 filbert brush, and 1 miniature round brush with a pointed end)
• 2 16oz or larger containers of water
• Paper towels

As you follow along you can use the tulip picture above, or one of your own pictures. The class begins with a basic pencil sketch on watercolor paper. Next Nancy will demonstrate how to create a value scale in the basic colors used in your painting. From there the painting process starts.
