Our Partner: This free community event is presented by the Barns in partnership with the Clarke County branch of the Handley Regional Library System. We appreciate having the library as a valuable community partner!
About: In his touching documentary, Harry and Snowman, Director Ron Davis tells the true story of Harry deLeyer and his horse, Snowman. deLeyer, a Dutch immigrant, journeyed to the United States after World War II and developed a transformative relationship with a broken down, plow horse he rescued off a slaughter truck, bound for the glue factory.
In less than two years, Harry and Snowman famously went on to win the triple crown of show jumping and traveled the world together. Their chance meeting at that Pennsylvania horse auction saved them both, and crafted a friendship that lasted a lifetime. Harry, who became known as the “Galloping Grandfather,” told the duo’s Cinderella story firsthand in 2016, before passing away at age 93 in June of 2021.
