Best of Fest at Barns of Rose Hill
September 12, 2019
The American Conservation Film Festival is thrilled to be presenting its 4th Best of Fest at the Barns of Rose Hill. This annual event showcases
some of ACFF’s best and favorite films from past festivals to a new audience in advance of the film festival October 4 -6 and 11-13 in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
We’re going to the birds this year and invite you to join us for two informative and beautiful films about birds and how to protect them. An added bonus will be a presentation by wildlife veterinarian and bird caretaker extraordinaire, Dr. Belinda Burwell, who owns and operates Wildlife Vet Care in Millwood, Virginia.
The evening’s lineup:
6pm – doors open, cash bar, snacks
6:30 – Surviving the Wild: Cats & Birds – Every year, outdoor cats kill over 1 billion birds in the United States. This short film follows the work of three wildlife rehabilitation facilities as they work on the frontlines to care for injured wildlife and give them a chance to be wild again.
6:40 – Bird of Prey – ACFF’s Green Spark Award for Highlighting Conservation Heroes at the 2018 Festival, this awe-inspiring and gorgeously-shot film explores the vanishing world of the Great Phillippine Eagle and profiles the courageous heroes determined to save it.
8:15 – Discussion with Dr. Belinda Burwell, Wildlife Vet Care, on the role of raptors and her experience rehabilitating all types of wild birds for release back to the wild. Special bird guests may accompany her!
