About: Multi-Grammy winner Tim O’Brien has quietly shaped the sound of American roots music for the past five decades. From his early days with the legendary Hot Rize to writing songs for artists like Garth Brooks and the Dixie Chicks, he’s been a vital thread in the fabric of bluegrass, folk, and Americana. Now performing with his wife and musical partner Jan Fabricius, O’Brien brings a more personal dimension to the stage—one rooted in life, love, and collaboration.
Their newest album, Paper Flowers, is the story of that partnership told through song: a collection of original music born from the rhythms of everyday life and late-night creativity. “Jan started adding harmony vocals and mandolin to shows and recordings soon after we became a couple,” O’Brien says. “We would play music around the house, and she would learn new songs as I wrote them. Then soon enough, we started writing together.”
Whether performing as a duo or joined by bassist Mike Bub and fiddler Shad Cobb, Tim and Jan offer a show that’s both deeply traditional and refreshingly original. With easy chemistry, sharp musicianship, and songs full of heart, they invite audiences into a musical space where storytelling matters—and where every note feels lived-in and true.
