About: Maddi Mae’s music is a hearty blend of old and new with sprinkles of folky Americana and off-beat psychedelia, hints of folk and traditional ballads, and heaps of classic country and indie pop.

Of Mae’s tune “Here Right Now,” music blog Ear to the Ground writes: “it sounds like something you could have heard late one night in the early 60s bringing down the lights in a honky-tonk . . . This is what should be on country music radio, but we’re happy to claim it over here in the indie Americana world.”

Brought up among the Blue Ridge Mountains in an evangelical cult, Maddi Mae found her own salvation in songwriting. She got her start as a five-year-old country gospel guitarist/singer/songwriter and spent a dozen years performing in valley churches. Escaping an abusive household in her teens, a homeless Maddi Mae spent years unraveling the brain-washing and trauma that came from her childhood experiences. Seeking answers, Mae turned back to songwriting. A decade into making her living off of music alone, Maddi Mae has played well over 400 shows – solo and as a member of psychedelic and folk rock bands.
