About: The Kingston Trio is a timeless American folk and pop music band that emerged from San Francisco's North Beach club scene in 1957. With their unique sound and rich tradition of American folk music, the Trio quickly rose to fame during the late 50s and early 60s, influencing the musical tastes of a generation. Their unprecedented record sales and worldwide fame cemented their status as one of the most influential bands in music history. Today, The Kingston Trio continues to inspire and entertain audiences with their timeless music and captivating performances.
Following in the footsteps of original band members Bob Shane, Dave Guard, and Nick Reynolds, the tradition lives on through Mike Marvin, Tim Gorelangton, and Buddy Woodward.
Mike Marvin was taken in by the Reynolds family as a teenager and grew up listening to rehearsals during a time in which the Trio was one of the biggest acts in the world. As a member of the band’s inner circle, he learned the ropes of band management at a young age. Having been performing for over 50 years, Marvin now plays guitar and banjo for the Trio and remains their Chief Executive Officer.
Like Bob Shane and Dave Guard, Tim Gorelangton was born in Hawaii. From a musical family, Gorelangton played banjo and guitar in folk and bluegrass bands in California and Nevada for years, boasting the rare distinction of being one of the very few musicians outside the Kingston Trio that Nick Reynolds ever recorded with.
Lifelong fan and longtime friend of the Kingston Trio, Buddy Woodward is an award-winning songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, with Top 10 hits on Bluegrass and Americana radio. Also a producer, music director, side man, and studio musician, Woodward has over 40 years of experience as a touring and recording professional.
Together, these three acclaimed musicians make up the Kingston Trio, touring the country and delighting audiences with the influential sounds that defined a generation.
