About: Gifted acoustic musician, Guy Davis is an American blues guitarist, banjo player, and two-time Grammy award nominee. The son of actors and Civil Rights activists, Ozzie Davis and Ruby Dee, Davis is also known for being a prolific actor, a great songwriter, and a man of the theater.
Through talented storytelling, Davis’ work mixes light and airy melodies with profound observations about life in a troubled world. Remaining deeply connected with the cultural history of his African-American heritage, his stories are sometimes painful, deep, and real; an earthy contrast to modern-day commercial music, meant to create thought, underlined by gentle tones from his guitar or banjo fingerpicking.
