About: Conducted by director of jazz studies Matt Niess, and featuring jazz saxophonist and composer Mike Tomaro, the Shenandoah Conservatory Studio Big Band presents an evening of gaming and computer music at the Barns of Rose Hill.
The band will be performing new arrangements from Mike Tomaro of popular computer gaming music and other jazz compositions in the big band setting. Selections will include music from Wii Shop Channel, Dire Dire Docks, Rosalina in the Observatory, jazz standards, and originals by Mike Tomaro, in addition to a few selections from his latest album, “4 Seasons".
Tomaro is presently the director of Jazz Studies at Duquesne University and has over 200 published compositions for Big Band. To prepare for this performance, Tomaro served a four-day residency at the Conservatory performing and working with students on various topics in the music business.
