ACFF’s Best of the Fest 2023

  • Barns of Rose Hill 95 Chalmers Court Berryville, VA, 22611 United States (map)

About the Event: Barns of Rose Hill is proud to partner with the American Conservation Film Fest, once again, to present the Best of the Fest 2023. For this event, we will screen six short films, all official selections of the 2023 American Conservation Film Fest. Films to be screened include:

  • My Brand New Car

  • Little Stream, Big Magic

  • Hellbent

  • Feeling the Apocalypse

  • Monumental Divide

  • Peace Pipeline

There will also be a virtual question and answer session with Peace Pipeline filmmaker, Gitz Crazyboy, after the screening. Crazyboy is a Denesuthine and Siksikaitsitapi (Blackfoot) activist and youth worker who decolonizes indigenous studies and teaches the history of Canada’s indigenous population. Working on reservations in rural areas and in cities, he educates on the destructive nature of the Tar Sands development. He is an author (The Secret of the Stars), an actor (credits include the Darren Aronofsky film Mother!) and an impresario (he hosted an episode of VICE’s Rise, and played both himself and a comic fictional character in The Yes Men Are Revolting).

Content Warning: These films are not rated. Some language and content may be inappropriate for children.

About the ACFF: The American Conservation Film Festival was created by a group of volunteers who shared both a devotion to film arts and a commitment to conservation. They also shared the belief that attitudes about the environment are shaped by our experiences in it and that people and their cultures are an essential part of Earth’s biosphere. From the outset, ACFF struck a chord with local film goers and tourists, now attracting more than 300 quality submissions each year, selecting just around 10% through a comprehensive and thoughtful jury process.  Jury members include educators, film buffs, scientists, conservationists, and filmmakers. Visit conservationfilmfest.org for more information about the ACFF.
