In the spirit of our “Hooked on Fairy Tales” theme, this class will create a Wonderland Rug (24″ x 22″) featuring a scene with the characters from Lewis Carroll’s beloved novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Combine various techniques and materials to make your fairy tale rug come to life. Each student will create a one-of-a-kind project and the possibilities are limitless!
The instructor, Kathy Donovan will share fiber art techniques, including the use of a variety of punch needle sizes, novelty yarns, wool fabric, needle felting, shading, punch needle embroidery and proddy. Finishing techniques will also be discussed.
The design is on linen and there will be an assortment of materials to choose from, such as: yarns, ribbons, buttons, and fabric pieces. Artists are encouraged to search their own craft boxes for additional supplies to add a personal touch to each piece! That might include hand-spun yarn, a piece of hand dyed wool, vintage buttons or baubles, or a special treasure in need of a home.
A frame and needles will be available for use during the class and also for purchase after the class.
