This program is presented in partnership with the Greenway Garden Club and the Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association (NSVMGA). It is part of our 2025 Masterclass Series.

About: Go Wild, Plant Native is a beginner-friendly class designed to help gardeners incorporate native plants into their landscapes while learning about their vital role in supporting local biodiversity and pollinators. Through practical guidance and expert insights, participants will discover how native plants create healthier ecosystems, require less maintenance, and provide essential habitats for birds, butterflies, and bees. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to enhance your existing garden, this class will equip you with the knowledge and inspiration to cultivate a thriving, environmentally friendly space.

About the Instructor: Sue Scarborough has been an educator for over 40 years, beginning her teaching career in 1978 and concluding it as both a teacher and administrator. She spent nine years as Head of School at Powhatan School, where she fostered a culture of curiosity, leadership, and experiential learning. A passionate educator at heart, she has always been committed to sharing knowledge in and beyond the classroom. Since retiring in 2021, Sue has combined her love of teaching with her enthusiasm for gardening as a Virginia Extension Master Gardener. She now spends her time gardening, volunteering, and educating others about the importance of native plants and sustainable landscaping.

About NSVMGA: The Northern Shenandoah Valley Master Gardener Association supports Virginia Cooperative Extension and our members. Extension Master Gardener volunteers serve the counties of Clarke, Frederick, Page, Shenandoah, and Warren. As an educational program of Virginia Cooperative Extension, Extension Master Gardener volunteers bring the resources of Virginia’s land-grant universities, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University, to the people of the commonwealth.
