About the Program: Join us for the opening of the quilt exhibition, Inspired by the Nation’s Capital for a look at the DC area through fabric-art binoculars! Enjoy 103 sites in and around DC with a beautiful twist: the images are quilts.
Take this opportunity to meet the featured artists, and enjoy a reading of the foreword of the accompanying book by Washington Post columnist, John Kelly.
About Donna DeSoto: Others collect quilts, but Donna Marcinkowski DeSoto is a collector of quilters. Her artwork has been exhibited at local and national venues, and her sewn and written work has been featured in newspapers, magazines, and books. She is the author of several books, including Inspired by the National Parks: Their Landscapes and Wildlife in Fabric Perspectives. What she loves most about quilting is the camaraderie she has found in others who speak through thread and cloth. What she loves most about Washington, DC, is the pride, patriotism, and joy she has discovered in choosing to put down roots in the place that is the pulse of the nation.
Date & Time: Saturday, March 9, 2024. The reception will begin at 1:00 p.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m. Visitors may come and go as time allows. John Kelly will read his foreword from the accompanying book at approximately 2:00 p.m.
