About: The Musical Theatre & Jazz Dance class offers a dynamic and engaging experience for students aged 7 years and up to explore the expressive and rhythmic elements of musical theatre and jazz dance. Through a fusion of technique, choreography, and theatrical storytelling, students will develop their skills in dance while embracing the vibrant energy of musical theatre.

The class meets once a week for 45 minutes, providing an immersive and focused environment for students to delve into the world of musical theatre and jazz dance. Each session is carefully crafted to balance technical training with creative expression, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience.

At the end of each 10-week session, students will have the exciting opportunity to showcase their talents in a live performance for family and friends. This performance serves as a culmination of their hard work and dedication throughout the session, allowing students to apply their skills in a theatrical setting and experience the thrill of performing on stage.

Curriculum Highlights:

  • Technique: Students will begin each class with a comprehensive warm-up designed to develop strength, flexibility, and coordination. Through exercises focused on body alignment, isolations, and rhythmic patterns, students will build a solid foundation in jazz dance technique.

  • Choreography: Students will learn choreographed routines inspired by popular musical theatre productions. These routines will challenge students to master intricate footwork, dynamic movements, and emotive storytelling, fostering creativity and artistic expression.

  • Musical Interpretation: Throughout the class, students will explore the relationship between music and movement, learning to interpret various musical styles and dynamics through their dance.

  • Character Development: In addition to technical training, students will have the opportunity to embody different characters and narratives within their dance routines. Through theatrical exercises and improvisation games, students will enhance their performance skills and develop confidence in expressing themselves on stage.

  • Collaborative Learning: The class encourages a supportive and collaborative environment where students can learn from each other and grow as a team.
