Geraldine Kiefer will be teaching a free workshop on mapping your space for middle and high school students.
Inspired by photographs from Clarke County–Images of America, copies of which will be provided to work on, participants will select one or more of these images to re-draw, either by gridding the images or copying it freehand. The drawings will be created on 5 x 7 deckle-edged watercolor cards, again supplied by the instructor. After re-drawing the images participants will color them with gray and sepia-toned colored pencils (again, supplied) and then write a personal message directly over their pictures. What does that picture say? What story might it tell? The workshop will conclude by having participants place their cards in envelopes and addressing them to themselves, a family member or friend.
This workshop is part of our Student Art Workshop series and is made possible by a grant from Marion Park Lews.
