Free Student Art Workshop: Drawing With Scissors

May 20 @ 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Norma Fredrickson in Studio

We are excited to collaborate with local artists and offer FREE Art Workshops for middle & high school students! This is a great opportunity to learn from a working artist plus ask questions about embarking on a career in the arts.

About the Workshop:
Fiber artist Norma Fredrickson introduces students to composition using shape before line. The workshop includes:

  • Creating compositions by cutting and fusing fabric.
  • Discussion and implementation of composition to create intentional mood or emotion.
  • Discussion and implementation of composition to strengthen focus and movement.

Inspired by Molly Bang’s “Picture This: How Pictures Work,”  the purpose of the class is to increase participants’ confidence to create what they intend through a more informed use of shape and placement.

Workshop Details:
Saturday, May 20  from Noon to 3:00 PM
Each workshop will be limited to 15 students. Materials and supplies included.
Registration is required. Please call us at 540-955-2004 or send an email to nathan.borger@borh.org.

The Student Art Workshops are made possible by a grant from the Marion Park Lewis Rappahannock Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up® (Power of Change).
